If this post is incoherent, it's not Keely's fault...
Just five days ago, I was strolling the beaches of eastern Florida. Four days ago, I was arriving at Reynold's Plantation, a truly gorgeous development in Georgia where my brother and his wife have their home. Two days ago, I landed back in Michigan with a thud.
Thank goodness it's warm here.
On Friday, before we left Vero Beach, we saw the beach-grooming machines. They are serious about beach grooming down there...
We made an 8-hour drive, in just about 11 hours. There was shopping to be done! We stopped at RonJon's in Cocoa Beach, and found some souvenir's for the kids before we left A1A for parts inland.
That night, we arrived in Greensboro, Georgia, a little tired, but glad to see My brother, Mike, and his wife, Joyce. They are homebodies, and so am I, so we don't see each other too often.
The next morning, we toured Reynold's Plantation, because Leslie and Larry had never been there. It is a little piece of heaven on earth, people.
These are a couple shots of the new saltwater, infinity pool at one of the clubhouses, and the fire pit next to it. If you want to visit Georgia, the last week of April is the time to do it. The kids there are still in school, and the weather is perfect.
Then, we made a trip into Eatonton, the boyhood home of Joel Chandler Harris, the author of the famous Brer Rabbit stories. Actually, he heard the stories from an old slave when he was a boy, and wrote them down later for posterity. As a child, he did not realize the seditious nature of the parables, and it seems that most of the slave owners were not sharp enough to get it, either.
There are no pictures allowed inside the museum, to protect the artifacts, but the gentleman who was acting as docent told wonderful stories, and was even polite when he spoke of how "Michael Eisner at Disney decided to save us from ourselves when he pulled Song of the South from the metaphorical shelves."
Then we visited Madison for some serious antiquing, and the camera was mostly away, except for this one...
It was a beautiful day with excellent company. Tomorrow, a new topic...
