Actual Conversation from Memorial Day:
Leslie and Larry joined us for some great American BBQ on Memorial Day
Larry: So how's the new job going?
Me: Well, let me tell you...tomorrow, thankfully, I have one more day to recover, then on Tuesday, I work the office job AND the retail job, and...
Buddy: Umm...Mar?
Me: What?
Buddy: Tuesday is tomorrow.
Me: What? No! This is...oh, $h!t! What the hell happened to yesterday?
Apparently, Sunday just disappeared into thin air. One thing I did do on Sunday was to start a Random Tuesday post, so I could link up at Keely's place and actually lure in the occasional reader again. That got about three sentences in, and sits in my drafts folder, it being Thursday night (as I type) and nobody hosting Random Thursday posts.
I have received emails asking about the new job, and I really am enjoying the work. It's challenging, but very exciting. They make decisions, people. Input is sought, considerations are made, then they make a decision that supports the strategic plan, and they do it. SO different from teaching. Plus, my new boss is very supportive, as well as being great at handling the culture of directorial hierarchy.
Today I was handed a couple new responsibilities, one of which is Social Media. Heh. Eat your hearts out. I'll be getting paid for using Twitter and Facebook. Schweet.
I worked my last regular shift at the retail location on Tuesday this week. 20-year-old-Daughter applied for my position there. Today she was hired. How cool is that? 18-year-old-Boy's response was, "Cool! Now we can get eight people in for free!"
Me? I'm feeling like a grown-up for the first time ever.
