September is National Pain Awareness Month. So many people have no clue what it means to live with chonic pain. Good for them. It means they have never had to. Even medical personnel (outside of the pain clinic at which I am treated) ALSO seem to have very little awareness of the needs and protocols of dealing with patients afflicted with chronic pain.
It's time for them to wake up. This is a list I found at the American Chronic Pain Association's website. It does a better job of describing life with chronic pain than any other scale I have seen. Right now, I am a six, bordering on a seven. Not so long ago, I was at level two. It's not a good place to be, and I am glad to be out of it. For now. Probably I will be there again sometime.
If you know someone who lives with chronic pain, maybe you could share the website with them. I learned about it from Twenty Four at Heart, and now I am passing it on to you.
